Fruit

Tonight I have been starting a new journey through the Bible! I am reading the Bible this year in chronological order. I was not planning on blogging, but when the Lord teaches me something, I HAVE to share it! I cannot keep it to myself. Maybe that is why I am an artist? I love talking and proclaiming truth! I also love creativity, so why not sing the truth for others to hear? image I just read Genesis 1 and first off need to say that if anyone questions if the earth was made it seven literal days, read this very carefully. God states each time that there was evening and morning and that equalled one day. (Gen 1:5, 1:8, 1:13, 1:19, 1:23, 1:31) I believe that this is a difficult concept to grasp because of how little our faith can be. I am guilty of wondering what the Lord is actually capable of… how could God really just speak all of this world into being in six days and then rest on the seventh? That is mind-boggling to me! But, I do not serve a Lord that is small and weak, I serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! Yahweh is my God! He is big and strong! Ok, back to the main event! As I was reading I loved seeing the reference to the Trinity in Genesis 1:26, and I continued. Every time I open God’s Word, the Holy Spirit teaches me new things. The Bible is a biography of God, a history book, and a romance novel all in one! Today, I just want to say that God really does love us! He made humans very special. Genesis 1:29-31 says, And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (NKJV) I have read this verse many times, but noticed something very interesting. I bolded the words above to make this as simple as possible. Reread these verses. The “you” that is being referred to are humans and they are told that they can eat herbs AND fruit. Every single other creature is told that they can eat green herbs. You might ask, “Emma Danzey, what does the food that animals and humans ate have to do with anything?” At first glance, I thought so too. You see, this is a HUGE scripture right here. Humans could eat FRUIT, but animals could not. Did you catch that? Humans could eat FRUIT, but animals could not! How did the fall of man occur? It happened at a FRUIT tree. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil. These small verses tucked away in Genesis 1 are vital because they separate humans from all other creatures. Animals did not eat fruit, so animals never sinned. Humans could eat fruit, and humans did sin. Adam and Eve were set apart from the animals. They had domain over the and had authority over all of the creatures. They also were the only ones that were made in the image of God. The fact that Adam and Eve were able to eat fruit was not only the reality, but a symbol of their freedom of choice and that they had souls. The Lord made them unlike anything He had already created. God sent His son Jesus to die for the forgiveness of the sins of people! We are SO loved. Humanity is unique and beautiful. People were the big finale of God’s creation! He saved the best for last! Everything that He made was good, but humanity was very good! If you are feeling inadequate and unimportant because you do not have a certain number of “friends” on facebook, or you are scolded daily by co-workers, or you just feel alone… stop and reread these verses. God gave you the gift of a soul and freedom of choice. He formed you in your mothers womb and designed you with a specific DNA that no one else has! You are His creation. You are loved. Tonight I thank God for making me a woman. I thank Him for forgiving me for choosing the fruit of sin. I thank Him for seeing me just as clean as Eve was before the fall, because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Lord, I pray for all who read this to know that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. I pray that they know that they were well thought out and planned! You have a purpose and a calling for each of us, with the goal of glorifiying you! Help us live out our callings and worship you with our lives. Amen
